Experience Giraffe Manor: Luxury Hotel in Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya

Giraffe Manor isn’t just one of Kenya’s finest hotels—it’s one of the continent’s most extraordinary experiences. Situated on 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest on the outskirts of Nairobi, this exclusive boutique hotel is the perfect place to begin or conclude your Kenyan safari adventure.

Stepping into the historic 1930s manor house feels like traveling back to the golden era of safaris, where romance and adventure filled the air. The original manor features six beautifully remodeled and luxuriously appointed rooms, while the Garden Manor, built in 2011, offers an additional six rooms. Designed to reflect the charm of the main house, the Garden Manor was constructed using reclaimed materials from the 1930s, ensuring an authentic aesthetic. Each room boasts stunning views and ensuite bathrooms, blending old-world elegance with modern comforts.

But the true magic of Giraffe Manor? The resident herd of endangered Rothschild’s giraffes that frequently visit during the mornings and evenings, creating an unparalleled wildlife encounter right on your doorstep.

Highlights and Activities at Giraffe Manor:

ROOMS: 12

BEST FOR: honeymooners, couples and families ( We do need to throw a word of caution in; because of the roaming wildlife around the hotel, children must be supervised at all times)

ACTIVITIES:

  • Giraffe encounter, obviously!
  • Breakfast and afternoon teas with giraffes
  • Nature walks and hikes
  • Visit The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
  • Nairobi excursions and tours

Why We Love Giraffe Manor:

At Ubuntu Travel, we’ve had the privilege of experiencing close-up encounters with Giraffe Manor’s semi-habituated Rothschild’s giraffes, creating truly unforgettable memories. There’s nothing quite like starting your morning with breakfast in the sunroom, where these gentle giants poke their heads through the windows in search of a treat.

Another Guest Favorite? Afternoon high tea on the terrace, where giraffes and warthogs alike roam freely, making for a one-of-a-kind wildlife experience. Whether it’s the stunning surroundings, the warm hospitality, or the sheer joy of feeding a giraffe from your own hand, every moment at Giraffe Manor is pure magic.

Insider’s Tip: If the Main Manor is fully booked for your travel dates, don’t worry! We can explore adding another Safari Collection property to your itinerary, granting you access to the Garden Manor. This exclusive area is reserved for guests extending their stay at Safari Collection lodges, meaning a few extra days on safari could be your golden ticket to experiencing Giraffe Manor!

 FAQs About Giraffe Manor

Where Is Giraffe Manor Located?

Giraffe Manor is located in the serene suburb of Langata, on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. It sits within 12 acres of private land, surrounded by 140 acres of indigenous forest, offering a tranquil escape just outside the bustling capital. The manor is conveniently located 12 miles (19 km) from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) and 5 miles (8 km) from Wilson Airport (WIL).”

Realistic Travel Time:
  • From Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO): 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on Nairobi’s notorious traffic. Peak traffic times (morning and evening rush hours) can extend the journey beyond 1.5 hours.
  • From Wilson Airport (WIL): 20–30 minutes, as it’s much closer and less affected by heavy traffic.

Can You Visit Giraffe Manor Without Staying There?

No, Giraffe Manor is exclusively for overnight guests only. The only way to experience this iconic property and its resident giraffes is by booking a stay.

However, if the Main Manor is fully booked, we can explore adding another Safari Collection property to your itinerary. This can grant you access to Garden Manor, which is reserved for guests extending their stay at Safari Collection lodges. A few extra nights on safari could be your golden ticket to experiencing the magic of Giraffe Manor!

How Can I Book a Stay at Giraffe Manor?

By contacting one of Ubuntu Travel’s design specialists, we can navigate availability and, with our personal relationships, help secure your stay. Due to Giraffe Manor’s high demand, early booking is essential, but our team will work to find the best options for your itinerary. Let us handle the details so you can enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience stress-free!

How Long in Advance should I Plan?

Giraffe Manor is one of the most sought-after luxury hotels in Nairobi, Kenya. Due to its high demand, we typically recommend booking at least 6–12 months in advance for the Garden Manor and 12 months or more for the Main Manor. Availability at the manor often dictates the timing of your tailor-made East Africa safari, so securing your dates early allows us to craft the perfect itinerary around this incredible experience.

Which Rooms at Giraffe Manor Offer In-Room Giraffe Feeding?

One of the biggest draws of Giraffe Manor is the once-in-a-lifetime experience of feeding the resident Rothschild’s giraffes right from your window! However, not all rooms offer this exclusive opportunity.

  • Historic Manor: All rooms have giraffe feeding access, although Lynn’s Room has limited access.
  • Garden Manor: Only Helen’s Room and Kelly’s Room provide in-room giraffe feeding.
    • Helen’s Room (Superior Room) – A 25 m² bedroom, front and west-facing, with direct giraffe interactions.
    • Kelly’s Room (Superior Room) – A spacious 33 m² bedroom, front-facing, offering prime giraffe feeding access.

If feeding giraffes from your room is high on your bucket list, we’ll make sure you secure the best option for your stay!
