Inspired by the traditional design and building techniques of the Bufimbira people, Volcanoes Safaris Mount Gahinga Lodge truly pays homage to the rich cultural heritage of Uganda. We were really immersed in an atmosphere of authenticity here, and loved the hand-built bandas (rooms) that boasted luxurious furnishings and a lovely ensuite bathroom. Each banda offers incredible views of the Virunga Volcanoes. 

Because of its unique location, you will embark on all gorilla treks directly from the lodge. The most popular gorilla family to trek to is the Nyakagezi family. We also highly recommend adding a golden monkey trek during your stay. These rare creatures are a delight to watch. After all that hiking, unwind with a complimentary massage (we melted away with a Rungu massage), at the Gushimisha Spa and Sauna.

FAMILY FRIENDLY: Yes! All ages are welcome at Mount Gahinga; however, only children aged 15 and older may participate on a gorilla trek, and children aged 12 and up can participate on golden monkey treks. Child minding services and an array of activities are available to keep little ones entertained.
