Tucked away within the unspoilt landscapes of the western Serengeti National Park, is the beautiful andBeyond Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge. Due to its far-flung location, there are very few lodges in this pristine section of the park, allowing for intimate and exclusive adventures. 

The lodge itself is situated on the banks of a tributary of the Grumeti River, and comes complete with its own resident pod of hippo. We love how the architects paid homage to the circular forms of a traditional Maasai manyatta (homestead), and its interior decor that displays stunning Kitenge fabrics, and the vibrant colors associated with the fishing communities surrounding Lake Victoria. Unwind in very spacious suites and take advantage of an enormous bed, bath, an indoor shower (with a spectacular view), and a private plunge pool.

Why We Love It:

You are likely to see huge lion prides consisting of between 20 and up to 60 lions. Not only are the opportunities for seeing lion in the western Serengeti excellent, but you are likely to find yourself alone at a sighting.
